Living in Oxford
Mansfield College offers housing for new postgraduates in a number of different buildings located around Oxford, some managed by Mansfield, and some by the University.
Please note we’re unable to offer any couples or family accommodation, or accommodation to students studying for part-time programmes. If you require couples or family accommodation, we advise you to contact the University’s Graduate Accommodation Office about availability as soon as possible.

More information about how to apply is provided in the material accompanying your offer letter. Please note there are a limited number of rooms available, and it’s likely that there will be more applications than available rooms. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Room allocations
Room allocations will be made as soon as the accommodation list is full, which may be before the final deadline for submitting the form. We expect to communicate allocations by mid-July at the latest.
Students who apply for accommodation after the accommodation list is full but before 30 June 2024 will be added to a waiting list and prioritised for any spaces that become available. Please note that joining the waiting list doesn’t guarantee that we’ll be able to offer you a room.
Mansfield College houses
Tenancies run from mid-September 2024 to mid-August 2025, and prices vary depending on the size and location of the room. Current rent levels being charged for 2022-2023 are noted below as a guide. Before taking up your accommodation, you’ll be required to return a signed tenancy agreement, which will be issued at rent levels applicable for the year 2024-25 (tbc).
222 and 224 Abingdon Road
A 30-minute walk from the College, these period houses were built in the early 1900s and still contain many period features of the late Victorian era including high ceilings and covings. These houses are owned by a private landlord and managed by Mansfield College, and have recently been refurbished to a very high standard.

Cowley Road
295 Cowley Road is a 30-minute walk from the College. This period house was built in the early 1900s and still contains many features of the late Victorian and early Edwardian era, including high ceilings and covings. The house is rented from a private landlord and managed by Mansfield College and has been modernised for life in the twenty-first century, featuring comfortable single occupancy rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities as well as Wi-Fi.

University accommodation
The College also provides University housing in central west Oxford at Castle Mill, close to the train station, Port Meadow, and the city centre. You’ll sign a fixed-term student tenancy agreement directly with the University – valid until the end date specified in that agreement, usually 12pm on 31 July 2024.
Castle Mill
Mansfield provides accommodation within Castle Mill, located in central west Oxford, close to the Railway Station, at the end of Roger Dudman Way. There’s a designated cycle track that leads from the site to Port Meadow car park and Walton Well Road, giving cycle and pedestrian access to Jericho, North Oxford, and the Science site.
