Academic excellence

Each year 80 postgraduates join Mansfield – each bringing their unique viewpoint to the selection of subjects we offer. You’ll usually find yourself with three or four other students in the same discipline, sometimes taking the same taught programme. You’ll be welcomed with enthusiasm into Mansfield’s friendly graduate community.

Beautiful spaces

Our historic Oxfordian architecture sits amidst contemporary facilities and picturesque outdoor spaces. Mansfield is perfectly situated in a quiet yet very central spot – close to the science parks, libraries, and city centre – with beautiful 24-hour libraries with good holdings in the major subjects.

Close-knit community

The College is a friendly place and graduates have their own Middle Common Room (the MCR), where they can hold socials or relax between sessions. Plus a café/bar, laundry facilities, and excellent lunches and dinners – with vegetarian and vegan food twice voted the best in Oxford.

Hear from our students

The MCR at Mansfield allowed me to meet some of the most brilliant and interesting people working on diverse issues and disciplines, from around the world. I appreciate that Mansfield is a place that encourages you to be your most authentic self - it has been a truly special space.

Mohini Gupta, DPhil student

It is the sense of inclusivity that brings people together – I have always felt, and still feel, that discrimination isn’t tolerated by the student body of Mansfield. Every time I return to Mansfield after a long period of being away, when I step onto the quad it feels like home.

Flora Walker, Mathematics student

There are a lot of study spaces; I like the library if I want solo study time and I love the Crypt (our College café) for informal group study or catching up with friends. In the nicer weather, it’s nice to study on the outdoor tables or the quad.

Amelia Oxlade, Philosophy & Theology student

I like Mansfield's location because it’s off the main road and not as loud as some other colleges. However, it’s still central and close enough to my lectures. I also love Mansfield’s small size. It creates a strong sense of community and everyone gets to know everyone.

Tomi Ajinimoh, English student

It is the greatest college. We have so much fun, we work hard, we’re super friendly, and we’re leading the way at Oxford across a range of political issues. I have never met someone at Mansfield who says they wish they were somewhere else.
