English language requirements

If you are not a native English speaker, nor been taught in English for at least the two most recent years prior to 1 February 2024 – then you will be required to provide evidence that you satisfy the higher-level English language conditions. These are the same as those listed for full-time undergraduates by the university. You do not need to have evidence for your English language qualification when applying, but if you have already achieved evidence for the required level of proficiency, then please include this with your application.

Your personal statement

As part of the application form you’ll be asked to submit a personal statement. Your personal statement should provide a brief account of your studies to date in your present university, and an explanation of how a year of study at Mansfield College would fit into your educational plans. You should also include a detailed description of the main subjects you would like to study, as well as the course work you have completed in the subject(s) at your home college or university.

We recommend that you draft your personal statement in a document first, and then copy it into the application form.

The application deadline is 1 February 2024

Make sure you let us know on the form whether you’re applying for full-year (October to June) or two-term study (January to June). Also make sure you have all the relevant information to hand before you start your application – you’ll need to submit your application and accompanying documents by the deadline to be considered.

"Oxford is home to a diverse range of different communities (class, race, religion, sexuality, all of it!) and you will definitely end up finding your people here. The general atmosphere around college is super positive and it’s a supportive environment to grow in (both personally and academically). Mansfield’s food, location, cats, societies, and non-conformism are also bonuses, but the life-long connections you’ll find in its students are supreme to everything else. The people here have genuinely made Oxford feel like home!"
