Undergraduate & Visiting Student Academic Grant Fund
The Academic Grant Fund’s main purpose is the support of study for undergraduates in the vacation: either while resident in Oxford, or for field trips and conferences; undergraduates & Visiting Students may also apply to the fund for (e.g.) travel costs to another University library, academic texts, and for contribution towards the cost of thesis binding. Awards will be made to students who have an academic need for a grant but are limited by financial constraints. Application forms, which can be found here, must be returned to the Academic Administrator by Friday of 7th Week in any of the three terms.
Graduate Travel Fund
Mansfield graduate students who are pursuing research degrees on three/two year courses (DPhil or equivalent) may apply to the College for financial support for attending conferences or other similar activities in connection with their research. DPhil students who are out of fee liability but are being charged a continuation fee are also eligible to apply for a travel grant. Application forms, available here, must be submitted to the Academic Administrator by Friday of 5th Week in any of the three terms. A supporting letter must also be sent to the Tutor for Graduates, c/o the Academic Administrator, from the applicant's research supervisor.
Graduate Book & Research Materials Grant
All graduate students within fee liability are eligible to apply for a book & research materials grant. Research students (including MPhil and BPhil) may claim 75% of the cost of any book(s) or research material(s) purchased in connection with their graduate studies, subject to a maximum claim of £150 per student per fee-paying year. Graduate students on a one-year taught course may claim 75% of the cost of any book(s) or research material(s) purchased in connection with their graduate studies, subject to a maximum claim of £50 per academic year.
The application form can be downloaded here and must be returned to the Academic Administrator, together with receipts, by Friday of 5th week in any of the three terms. Please send the hard-copy of the form to the College Office.
Please note that book and research material costs cannot be reimbursed without proof of purchase. The sum reimbursed will be credited to battels, unless a cheque is specifically requested on the form.
The Caird Fund provides an opportunity for any student undertaking a research degree (DPhil; MSc by Research; MSt Legal Research; MPhil Law) at Mansfield to apply for a small amount of funding to help with their research/wider university activities. In the event of multiple applications, priority will be given to applications in the following areas:
Theology; the Arts; Sport; Ecology
Funds will be made available to students who make a strong case of need. Priority will be given to students who can demonstrate hardship, or who require funding to complete their research.
Students who wish to apply should send a letter of application c/o the Academic Administrator, and must also ask their supervisor to send an endorsement of the application to the Academic Administrator. Proposals will be assessed by the Bursar, in conjunction with the Tutor for Graduates.
