How to Apply

Application Requirements

Our Visiting Students come from a wide range of backgrounds and we value the diverse contributions and skills they bring to our college community during their time at Mansfield. All students must meet our academic requirement of a GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent), and should also ensure that the range of courses we offer fits with their interests.  Please note we will not be able to consider applicants who do not meet this academic requirement.

Application Form

Fully year study (October - June)

The application form for full year study on the Mansfield Visiting Student Programme can be found here: Application Form

The application deadline is 18 February 2023. 

 

Two term study (January - June)

The application form for two-term/spring semester study on the Mansfield Visiting Student Programme can be found here: Application Form

The application deadline is 31 March 2023. 


The form contains the following sections: personal and education information; proposed course choices (see Subjects for available options); details of your two referees; personal statement (see below); regulations and waiver.

 

Please make sure that you have all of the relevant information to hand before starting your application.

In order for your application to be considered you must have completed the application form and submitted the following documents by the deadline

  • An academic transcript which includes your most recent courses
  • Two confidential references
  • A sample of recently completed written work in one of the subjects for which you are applying

The documents can be sent either as a PDF to vsp@mansfield.ox.ac.uk, or as a hard copy to Visiting Student Programme, Mansfield College, Oxford, OX1 3TF, United Kingdom.

Referees are welcome to contact us directly via email to provide references, but must do so from their institutional email address.

Personal Statement
As part of the application form you will be asked to submit a personal statement.  Your personal statement should provide a brief account of your studies to date in your present university, and an explanation of how a year of study at Mansfield College would fit into your educational plans.  It should also include a detailed description of the main subjects you would like to study, as well as a description of the course work you have completed in the subject(s) at your home college or university. 

It is recommended that you draft your personal statement in a document first, and then copy it into the application form.
