Fees and Finance
The careful management of money during your time as a student is of great importance. The information provided below is designed to give guidance to help with your financial planning during your degree course. The College seeks to keep charges to students at a reasonable level, and meal charges in particular represent exceptional value for money.
When you begin study at Mansfield an account is opened. This is called a 'battels' account, and it records all the financial transactions between you and the college.
The Oxford academic year runs from October to June, comprising three eight-week terms. We heavily prioritise full year applications for study but on a case by case basis will consider a small number of applications for two terms of study starting in January 2019 and ending in June 2019. The Visiting Student Programme fees are as follows:
Full year of study
Course fees: £25,214
Two terms of study
Course fees: £18,624
Further details about fees, billings and payments can be found here.
Each term’s rent is payable in advance at the beginning of each term. Billing information can be found in above Fees section. The Visiting Student rent for the academic year 2018-19 is £5,315 for full-year students and £3,922 for two-term students. Utilities charges and other accommodation related charges such as internet access are included in the rental payment. Further information about Visiting Student accommodation can be found on the Living at Mansfield page.
The following charges are for the academic year 2017-18.
Mansfield prides itself on the quality of its catering and most meals are cooked from fresh ingredients, locally sourced from high animal welfare suppliers, with the same menus available to students and academic and support staff.
A variably-priced menu is available for all meals except Formal Hall. Choices will be offered so that a meal will always be available at affordable prices. The following prices are indicative for a two course meal in 2017-18, as the actual cost will vary with market prices and the exact type of meal chosen.
- Continental breakfast (average): £1.09
- Lunch (average): £3.36
- Dinner (average): £4.10
- Three course formal hall second sitting on Wednesdays & Fridays: £10.65

Guest charges apply.
Payment for all meals except Formal Hall will be charged to battels (student accounts) using the University Card. Formal dinners for which students "sign up" are charged direct to battels.
