On 3 and 4 May, College was decorated with bunting and balloons as Mansfield’s 135th Birthday Giving Day* got underway.

Giving Day saw members from across our global community take part in different on-site and online fundraising challenges, to do something amazing for current and future Mansfield students. Rowers and runners (and walkers!) managed to complete their respective challenges (135km on the erg and 135 miles around the Quad) with one hour of Giving Day still left on the clock.

Huge thanks to the hundreds of you who donated or took part in one of the challenges. You helped raise an amazing £66,000 for Mansfield’s priorities: Mansfield Matters (unrestricted); Student Support (hardship grants and welfare); and the Sanctuary Scholarship (to provide a life-changing opportunity to a refugee scholar). Thank you to everyone for your support.

To mark Mansfield’s 135th year, one of our students also wrote a beautiful poem, which was read by members of our College community, and Mansfield’s choir recently performed ‘Happy Birthday’. You can see some of the highlights on Mansfield’s social media platforms, or on our Giving Day site (www.mansfield.ox.ac.uk/GivingDay2022). In the final few hours of Giving Day, many students, staff and academics also gathered on the Quad to create a human chain. Thank you for getting involved and we hope you enjoyed taking part in the celebrations.

If you would like to support Mansfield as part of our 135th Birthday Giving Day, there’s still time to do so. Please contact Eleanor Crawford at regulargiving.manager@mansfield.ox.ac.uk before Friday 20 May to find out how.

*In 2021-22 Mansfield is celebrating 135 years. As we have a global community of alumni, Giving Day took place over 36 hours to give everyone the opportunity to get involved.
