The Telethon was held remotely, with our team reaching out to alumni around the world. As valued members of our community, it was an opportunity for alumni to hear the latest news from College, as well as find out about ways to get involved – such as attending events, mentoring students and supporting Mansfield’s priority projects.

Not everyone is in a position to make a ‘major’ gift. However, together our regular supporters are making a big difference at Mansfield. University is often life-changing, and College wants to ensure that students are given opportunities, teaching and learning that will stay with them throughout their careers. Therefore, this year’s priorities are the Mansfield Matters Fund, which supports areas of greatest need at College, the Student Support Fund, as well support for teaching through the Janet Dyson Fellowship in Maths.

Over the two weeks of calling, alumni pledged a fantastic £40,000 to this year’s priorities. Thank you for your kind support – we are extremely grateful to you for your generosity. In addition, your support is helping us towards our goal of 15% alumni participation – the average across the Oxford Colleges. Last year, Mansfield was at 13%, so every donor is helping us towards our aim. Thank you for your kind support. Being able to show that more alumni are choosing to get behind College priorities is extremely positive for the future of Mansfield.

An important part of each Telethon is carrying out thank you calls to our supporters. During the two-week campaign, our team reached as many College donors as possible to say a huge thank you and share how donations are having a positive impact here. We hope you enjoyed the calls.

To everyone who took a call during the Telethon, thank you. It was also a great opportunity for Mansfield students and recent graduates to gain valuable work experience, as well as have the chance to find out your top tips for finals and careers. Thank you to everyone who took a call from a caller and for all the ideas and feedback you shared.

With thanks from the September 2021 Telethon Team (Adam, Aftab, Harry, Rachel, Sara, Vassia and Yasmin).
