At Mansfield we believe that talent is spread widely across society. Our Access Officer, Sara Harb, is doing fantastic and important work identifying students with the greatest aptitude, from a broader pool than ever before.

We are pleased to report that Michaelmas finally felt like a return to some degree of normality as we welcomed school groups back to Mansfield for taster days and went out to visit our schools in the College’s link regions, to enthuse and excite them (and bust myths!) about higher education, Oxford, and Mansfield in particular.  It has been great to have schools visiting College again, especially as this means the return of mini-academic tasters with our wonderful Student Ambassadors. We’ve had pupils tackling the prisoner dilemma, the definition of murder and having a go at Fermi problems.

I also had my first outbound trip since March 2020! As some of you may remember from my live tweeting on the @MansfieldAccess account, Helen Brooks and I spent a few days visiting Manchester, York, Doncaster and Hull to deliver interview workshops as well as our Oxplore sessions with some younger students.

This term is usually busy with our multi-school Application Conferences that we host in our link regions for Year 12s to learn more about Oxford and the application process. We also have more visits to college scheduled, so do keep an eye out on our access twitter if you would like to see some fun snippets of that!
