The page is updated by the MCR bench.
The MCR exists for the benefit of the community of graduates at Mansfield, providing as many opportunities as possible for social interaction and mutual support. While the Department is there to look after your academic development, the College is here to give you a ‘home away from home’, a close-knit community where you can belong while you are here in Oxford.
The MCR organises a wide variety of events for graduates, including formal dinners, cocktail parties, pizza and film evenings, international food nights, Nintendo and board games evenings, exchange dinners with other colleges, academic presentations, ice-cream café trips, and much more.
We aim to make our common room as accessible, inviting, and functional as possible, as well as encouraging graduate engagement in College life. In addition, we serve on behalf of graduates as representatives within the College, our executive members attending various College committees and pursuing issues that are raised by MCR members, while also serving members practically with support in areas of welfare and women’s matters. Essentially, the MCR is all of us together, and with your involvement it will be better for everyone.
Meet the current committee below.
President: Johnny Wilkinson
Hello! I'm Johnny, and I'm heading into my 2nd year of a DPhil in Physics. As MCR president it's my job to make sure you all get the most out of your time here at the college, so if you have any questions, worries or concerns please feel free to drop me an email!
Vice President: Oli Woolley
Hello everyone, my name is Oli Woolley. I'm a second year student studying for the BPhil in Philosophy. Last year I served as a Welfare Officer for Mansfield MCR, and it was great to get to know so many of you returning students through our free welfare brunches. This year, I'm looking forward to being even more involved with the running of the MCR, and getting to know so many new faces. I'll be working hard with the rest of the team (and with all of you!) to make the MCR a welcoming place, and to represent your interests to the College and the University. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or suggestions you have at any point, and I hope to see many of you in Freshers' Week and around the MCR itself
Treasurer: Franziska Brandmann
Hi everyone! My name is Franziska Brandmann and I am 2nd year MPhil student, studying European Politics. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Bonn and Harvard University, and I really fell in love with the welcoming and vibrant atmosphere at Mansfield during my first academic year. Now I am looking forward to passing this feeling along to all of you - not only during Freshers' week, but also during the rest of the year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of us at any time! Welcome to Mansfield and see you soon!
Secretary: Tom Babb
Hi, I’m Tom Babb. I’m a 2nd year DPhil student, studying Industrially Focused Mathematical Modelling. I also did my undergraduate at Mansfield so I know the college pretty well! I’m looking forward to meeting you all in Freshers’ Week, feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions about Mansfield or Oxford life in general.
Sports Rep: Oliwier Melon
Hey, welcome and congratulations on getting here! I am a second-year DPhil in EngSc student working on a fourlegged robot. My role on the committee is to encourage and help you get involved in sport at college and university levels. Regardless of your abilities, or how competitive you are, there is something for you! In my case it has been rowing. I am more than happy to answer any sport-related queries; contact me about available supports, clubs, gyms, classes, events and more. Enjoy and make the most of your time at Oxford!
