Fees & Finance

The careful management of money during your time as a student is of great importance. The information provided below is designed to give guidance to help with your financial planning during your degree course.  The College seeks to keep charges to students at a reasonable level, and meal charges in particular represent exceptional value for money.

When you begin study at Mansfield an account is opened. This is called a 'battels' account, and it records all the financial transactions between you and the college.

There is information available about prizes and scholarships for Mansfield students.

Further information can be found in the Financial Guide for Undergraduates.

Undergraduate Course Fees

For up-to-date information about course fees for Home/EU and Overseas students, please consult the Oxford University website.

Course Deposit

All undergraduate students must pay a course deposit of either £100 (UK and EU students) or £300 (overseas students) before starting their course.

Details of how to make payment will be included in the information pack sent to all new students.

This deposit will be held until the end of your course, and applied initially to your final battels bill (usually prepared in early July). All final credit balances on student battels accounts will be refunded by either cheque or bank transfer.

Accommodation

The following charges are for the academic year 2019-20.

The weighted average daily room rate, including utilities and services, is £21.93. The most common length of undergraduate contract is 177 days.

Each term’s rent is payable in advance at the beginning of the term. Vacation residence is charged per room per night (inclusive of utilities and internet).

Food

The following charges are for the academic year 2019-20.

Mansfield prides itself on the quality of its catering and most meals are cooked from fresh ingredients, locally sourced from high animal welfare suppliers, with the same menus available to students and academic and support staff.

A variably-priced menu is available for all meals except Formal Hall. Choices will be offered so that a meal will always be available at affordable prices. The following prices are indicative for a two course meal in 2019-20, as the actual cost will vary with market prices and the exact type of meal chosen.

  • Continental breakfast: £1.16
  • Lunch: £3.57
  • Dinner: £4.37

Guest charges apply.

Payment for all meals except Formal Hall will be charged to battels (student accounts) using the University Card. Formal dinners for which students "sign up" are charged direct to battels.
