Schools and Colleges Liaison
Mansfield was originally founded to provide an education to those previously denied access to the University. That founding principle of inclusion and openness is still central to the College's aims.
Mansfield has a long history of working with schools and colleges to encourage students from under-represented backgrounds to apply to Oxford, and to provide support for those who do. Each year, we work with students, parents and teachers across the country to ensure that those with the academic potential to do well at Oxford can make an informed decision about whether to apply, and if they do, can make an application that fully reflects their aptitude and enthusiasm for their subject.
Our Tutor for Admissions (Lucinda Rumsey), our Registrar and Director of Admissions (Helen Brooks) and our McBain Access Officer (Sarah Large) co-ordinate Mansfield's outreach work. They are supported by our tutors, who provide subject-specific guidance, and a dedicated and hard-working community of student ambassadors.

Regionalisation
Under the University’s Regionalisation Scheme, each Oxford College focuses their outreach work on particular local authorities across the UK. The scheme was set up to improve our communication with teachers and their students. The aim is that each school and college within the UK has a first point of contact within the University for information, advice and guidance. The Regionalisation scheme has now been running for over five years and has allowed colleges to build better relationships with their link areas and the communities within those regions that most need support.
Mansfield is linked with ten Local Authorities in Yorkshire & the Humber and Greater London:
- Bexley
- Bromley
- Croydon
- Doncaster
- East Riding
- Greenwich
- Hull
- North East Lincolnshire
- North Lincolnshire
- York
The majority of the outreach work we do is targeted in these regions, though we continue to work with schools and colleges across the country. We welcome contact from any schools in these areas that would like to find out more about what support we can offer. We also hope to maintain and expand upon the relationships we have built over the last five years, and to continue to encourage talented students from these areas to aspire towards competitive universities.
If you are a teacher from a school or college in one of these areas, then please join our Teachers' Mailing List.
If you are from a different region, then please click here to find your link college.
