Love Lane Campaign
We now have an opportunity to make a quantum shift in Mansfield College’s facilities for the benefit of future generations of students. We have launched a major fundraising campaign that will provide Mansfield students with modern teaching and living spaces.
The new Love Lane Building will incorporate 74 en-suite study bedrooms, seminar rooms and a 160 seat lecture auditorium that will be used for a range of activities such as lectures, seminars, as a cinema, moot court and performing arts space. The specially designed structure will also become home to The Bonavero Institute of Human Rights. Working in partnership with the Faculty of Law and the new Director, Justice Kate O'Regan, this dynamic global research institute will bring together world-class scholars and practitioners with an active interest in bridging the divide between theory and practice in human rights.
The £13m building has been designed by Rick Mather Architects to be an exemplar for student and academic accommodation. When granting planning permission, the City Planning Department praised the building for its use of renewable energy sources. Over the lifetime of the building, this will help significantly reduce the running costs for the College.
"One of the things we have to do is bring more of our students into the College, so that they can live here and be part of this community – at the moment, they have to live out in their second year."
