The deadline for submitting written work is Saturday 10 November. Each piece of work you submit should sent as one multi-page PDF file (including cover sheet) to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are unable to scan and email your written work, you can submit it in hard copy, single-sided and not stapled, to the Admissions Office, Mansfield College, Mansfield Road, OX1 3TF. Please ensure that you use adequate postage, and do also bear in mind that work we have received via post cannot be returned.
Subject tutors review each application before deciding on a shortlist in late November or early December. Tutors then interview the shortlisted candidates, usually in early to mid December. If you are required to come to Oxford in December we will send you a formal invitation, which will be dispatched via e-mail at least seven days before the scheduled date of interviews for the subject for which you are applying. We will also notify candidates who have not been shortlisted at the same time. Please check your inbox and junk inbox for emails. If you have not heard from the College by a week before the scheduled interview date, please contact us on email@example.com or 01865 282920. The interview timetable along with further information about interviews at Oxford may be found here.
All candidates resident in the UK, the European Economic Area (EU and Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and Switzerland are expected to come to Oxford for interview in December if shortlisted. Candidates who are resident outside the EEA and Switzerland should let the College know by the 10 November whether they will be able or unable to come to Oxford for interview in December if shortlisted. If you are not able to come to Oxford for an interview this will not impact on the consideration of your application.
Confirmation that shortlisting emails have been sent out will be put here as each subject is shortlisted.
Information for Interview Candidates
Staying at Mansfield
Every interview candidate will be provided with meals and accommodation free of charge for the time that they are required to be in Oxford for interviews. We will make every effort to ensure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. Student helpers will be on hand to answer any question you might have, and to make sure your experience is a positive one.
What to Bring
We advise that students bring the following:
- Mobile phone and charger: phones should be kept switched on whenever possible, aside from when you are in an interview, in case we need to contact you at short notice.
- Warm and comfortable clothing: there is no dress code for interviews, and Oxford is quite cold in December. You may also have to do a lot of walking between colleges if you are called for interviews elsewhere.
- A copy of your written work/personal statement: so you can ensure that it's fresh in your mind when you go into the interview.
- Something to read/school work/etc.: there can be lots of waiting around during the interview period, so it's best to bring something to do while you're waiting between interviews.
Please note: bedding will be provided.
All meals are free for candidates, and will be served either in the hall or the café-bar. Candidates should ensure that they notify us of any dietary requirements when they confirm that they will be attending their interviews.
- Breakfast: 07:45-08:45
- Lunch: 12:05-13:45
- Dinner: 18:00-19:30
During the interview period, all important information about when and where interviews will be taking place will be displayed on noticeboards outside the JCR. Candidates should ensure that they check the noticeboards regularly for changes and notification of further interviews at other colleges. Please also keep your mobile phone switched on where possible, as we will try and contact you if interviews are arranged at short notice.
If you do encounter any difficulties during your stay at Mansfield, please let a member of the Admissions Team or one of the student helpers know.
