Ruth is the author of Celebrity Culture and the Myth of Oceania in Britain, 1770-1823 (2019) and, most recently, a chapter on empire and Gothic literature in The Cambridge History of the Gothic (2020). She is currently working on a project on eighteenth-century novels, celebrity, and constructions of race and gender, and teaches literature 1660-1830, as well as the optional English paper 'Writing Feminisms/ Feminist Writing'.
