Buildings and Environment
Contributions to the Buildings and Environment Fund enable us to develop new spaces in College, as well as improve and refurbish existing areas for the benefit of the whole College community.
In recent years, Mansfield has put significant emphasis on improving the College estate. As a result, Mansfield has never been in better shape or offered more facilities to its students.
Living spaces and bedrooms have been refurbished and brought up to date. Mansfield now has a fantastic café - 'The Crypt' - and a terrace, which are both used by students as informal study spaces or places to relax with friends.
The Quad has been landscaped and the Chapel, which brings together the College community on a daily basis for meals, enjoying a recital, taking a moment for reflection or attending a service, has undergone work to make the heating more energy efficient.
Our major building project to create the Hands Building, was completed in September 2017 and gave us 74 new en-suite bedrooms and Mansfield's first purpose-built lecture theatre, the Sir Joseph Hotung Auditorium. It is also home to Oxford University’s Bonavero Institute of Human Rights.
Current priorities for the Building and Environment Fund include making essential upgrades that will both improve the student experience, and reduce College’s environmental footprint.
Please support our efforts to improve and maintain Mansfield’s beautiful heritage buildings for future generations of students, by making a gift today.
