I am an MBA student in the Mansfield MCR from Boston, USA. At the Oxford Saïd Business School, I learn and interact with my 250 classmates who bring colour and knowledge from around the world. Saïd encourages me to improve the skills that I’ve acquired over the last 4 years as a working professional, develop new abilities and nurture interests in a brilliant academic environment.
While the business school encompasses much of my colleagues’ Oxford experience, I make an extra effort to be as involved as possible in the Mansfield community. I was quickly drawn in by the degree of conviviality and sociability within the college. Interacting with fellow students who embody a wide breadth of academics dramatically enriches my Oxford experience. I take full advantage of the fun and creative events that our MCR sponsors- such as field trips, theme parties, and research presentations. I participate on many of the Mansfield sports teams, such as rowing and squash, which instills in me a sense of Mansfield pride. A personal favourite, I go out of my way to eat as many meals as possible in the Mansfield dining hall, as it trumps many other college halls I’ve visited. The charm and warmth of a smaller college has been a great advantage for me given the short length of my 1-year program. The community at Mansfield has invaluably contributed to my Oxford experience and I wouldn’t want to be in any other college.
