I am a third year student from Israel reading for a DPhil in politics (political theory). I have a BA (psychology and politics) and MA (political theory) from Tel Aviv University.
It took me an amazingly short time to accommodate to my new life in Mansfield, as I found everyone around me really friendly and helpful. My favourite thing about Mansfield is its lively and open minded atmosphere. It is an academic community in every sense of the word, providing you with everything you need at all levels of study and work.
Mansfield has become my intellectual and social home. I have everything I need to be free to think! I enjoy my work, as I love reading, writing and reflecting. I am writing my dissertation on the connection between politics and dance; two main interests I have had for years. The intensity and excellence of Oxford supervision cannot be matched; I feel really privileged to get feedback from a leading specialist in my field, and feel that the close Oxford supervision is the best way to push oneself further. I also enjoy the variety of seminars and talks which keep me busy throughout term time and help me with my own research.
In my free time I take about 4 dance classes a week, and enjoy getting involved with the small and friendly Mansfield MCR. I have good friends from various parts of the world, who I met in Mansfield. I feel that the social side of life in Oxford enhances my learning process as a student and makes me a more open minded human being.
I now find that I really miss Mansfield when I go back to Israel for vacations (and especially miss our college cat, Erasmus, who is my favorite member of Mansfield…)
