On 19th June, former US President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter arrived at Mansfield for a three day visit, during which President Carter was elected to an Honorary Fellowship of the College and delivered the Seventh Annual Hands Lecture on ‘Peace with Justice in the Middle East’, a speech born of his own first-hand knowledge of the region and his abiding interest in it since the days when, as President, he negotiated the Camp David Accords that brought lasting peace between Israel and Egypt.
